Road to Recovery

Tuesday went great and we finally had some good news. Paisley didn't need pins or screws or any hardware. She did, however have to be put under so they could realign her leg and get it straightened out. Poor thing couldn't eat all day so we could do the procedure at 5pm. She is a special little gal that has certainly amazed us throughout this whole ordeal. She was a total ham for all the doctors and nurses and quite the story teller. Jed asked her how she was going to handle going all day without eating and she said, "Well....I guess I'll just hang in there!" What a kid!

They were able to give her some gas first, then once she was asleep put her IV in, so she didn't feel any pain. Waking her up was quite the process though! The first time she woke up she was screaming, crying and just not feeling too great. They gave her some pain meds in her IV and that put her back to sleep for a little while. The next time she woke up, she was a completely different person. It was like night and day! She was smiling and laughing and ready for a popsicle! We didn't get home until 11pm, but for the first time since the accident, she slept all night and without any pain meds.

Her cast is plaster and goes up to her hip, so it is very heavy and awkward. Yesterday she was really not liking it and already wanting it off. Really hoping the next 3 weeks goes quickly. We will go back the 15th and have a shorter cast put on at that time.

She is such a trooper and has maintained the best attitude this whole time. Definitely a kid that you can't keep down.

I had to coach t-ball last night so I brought her into Bison with me. She got to see all her friends and they all signed her cast. She was soaking up all the attention. Unfortunately at softball later that evening, I got hit by a line drive to my ankle, while pitching. So now we have two wounded birds :(
